The Lord said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." - 1 Samuel 16:7 How do you respond when you read that I can see your heart and know your true character? Does it fill you with confidence because you see your motives as pure and your desires for me as sincere? Or does it fill you with fear because you are well aware of how divided and dark your heart can be? If you are in Christ, you have no cause for fear and no grounds for pride, but only a place for gratitude. I have seen your heart as it truly is, and I have made you my own. I see your mixed motives, I hear your arrogant words, and I read your critical thoughts. But I have no intention of rejecting you. I am working to change you. When I look at your heart, I see it in light of what it will one day be - purified, perfected, holy.
